About Veridian

Veridian Software and digitization services give libraries the ability to preserve archives of historic material and deliver the content as a digital collection to their communities. 

We understand that libraries and cultural heritage institutions must respond to increasing demand for accessible online content. Since 2002 we've been helping organizations around the world retain their position as critical and important community resources.  

We've delivered large projects for prestigious university libraries, large state and public libraries, and national libraries in the U.S. and abroad. Our staff is highly skilled in managing complex digital collections and is always responsive to issues large and small.

DL Consulting is the company behind the Veridian collection management software and related digitization services, and www.elephind.com. We are based in Hamilton, New Zealand, with an office in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Stefan Boddie

Stefan has over 20 years experience working with digital library software applications. In 1997 he worked as a Software Engineer for the well-respected NZDL research project at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. Stefan was one of the original designers and developers of Greenstone Software which is used at a large number of institutions worldwide and recognized as a leader in the digital library research field. In 2002 Stefan founded DL Consulting Ltd. and created Veridian software. He has led successful large newspaper digitization projects at many prestigious institutions across the United States, Europe, Asia, Australia, and New Zealand.

Jeffrey first joined Veridian in 2005. His skills in client requirement analysis and solution proposals make him a great first point of contact for our customers. Jeffrey brings comprehensive experience in project management and development to the team. He has a Masters Degree in Computing and Mathematical Science. Jeffrey has an in depth ability to analyze, understand, re-structure, extend, and test large digital library systems. He has been part of many key Veridian projects including Digital Michigan Newspapers from Central Michigan University and the development of the National Library of Estonia’s Newspaper Archive.

Michael holds a Masters degree in Computer Science and has extensive experience in the library technology industry. He has been the Lead Engineer for Veridian Software development since 2007. He has expertise in a wide range of technologies and standards related to the library industry, including: METS/ALTO, OAI-PMH, National Digital Newspaper Program (NDNP) technical guidelines and JPEG 2000. Michael is also directly responsible for managing some of the largest Veridian projects, including those at the National Libraries of New Zealand and Singapore.

John Thompson

John is an experienced Software Engineer who has been programming since 1995. With a strong foundation in web technologies, digital libraries, and big data, John's journey includes a previous tenure at DL Consulting (2003 to 2013), during which he made notable contributions to projects such as the early Veridian. After pursuing other ventures, including a Computer Science PhD, John rejoined the DL Consulting team in 2024. His expertise spans a wide realm of software engineering, reflecting his versatility and eagerness to tackle new challenges. He excels in diving into diverse projects and adapting seamlessly to any role within the team.

Richard Managh

Richard joined Veridian in 2003, and has managed many large Veridian newspaper digitization projects including the Virginia Chronicle from the Library of Virginia and the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection from the Colorado State Library. Richard is skilled in many aspects of the process of building digital collections from project management, system design, data conversion, managing digital image repositories and developing custom user interfaces. Richard has a degree in Computer Science from the University of Waikato.

Andrew Holland

Andrew has a Bachelor of Computing and Mathematical Sciences with Honours from Waikato University. He has been with Veridian since 2011. Andrew works closely with customizing digital collections so that each client’s website can reflect their unique branding and style. He maintains a number of key digital collections, adding new features to fit with customer needs and ingesting new data. Andrew is also experienced in database management.
